But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts,
always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to
give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness
and reverence - 1 Peter 3:15
Calvary Chapel Seminar
A few weeks ago I was invited to share on a Wednesday evening at Calvary Chapel in La Mesa on the subject of Jehovah's Witnesses. Several things were a real encouragement. First I was truly blessed that not only are there still churches that meet during the week, but that there are still churches that boldly teach core truths of the Holy Bible without compromise. We live in a day and age that hasn't changed much since I heard Walter Martin thirty years ago speak of the then current church age as "non-rock-a-boatus." Positive upbeat messages that won't "Rock the Boat."

I was also encouraged that a rather modest size church had around 50 or so meeting during the week to study the Bible. I think this is a direct result of a pastor that challenges his flock to be mature workman of the word and not hearers only. Jesus Christ makes demands on the Christian that are not optional. A true believer will surrender to His Lordship and treasure Christ with a whole heart.
I shared with the congregation what I believe is the Watchtower's core deviation from truth. Upon this fundamental principle are all Watchtower errors connected. The grip that the Watchtower has is based on the heresy that the Bible alone is insufficient to lead us to truth. The Organization is clear that life eternal is found only within the organization:
"How else can one get Jehovah's favor and blessing?" There is nowhere else to go for divine favor and life eternal." (Watchtower, 1992-11-15, p.21)
