Just a few days ago we discovered the Jehovah's Witnesses had been to our door. This was rather surprising since the last time they were here (about a year ago), they left rather frustrated. Our experience is that your house is usually marked as one never to go to again.
The title of the pamphlet they left is "Would You Like to Know the Truth?"
You would think that the greatest remedy the Jehovah's Witnesses could offer is the solution to our personal sins and the judgement that we all deserve.
Amazingly, not one mention of our sins or that Jesus and the cross of Calvary is the heart of the Christian message.
A question is asked, "What Happens to Us When We Die?" No mention that we must face a Holy God and be judged but rather there is no conscious existence after death and God does not punish the wicked in a fiery hell.
The next question "Is There Any Hope for the Dead?" Again, no hope in Christ or the opportunity to go to heaven in the presence of God. The answer is rather the potential to live on a paradise earth for the obedient.
If you desire to know the answers to the questions they raise, they insist "The Bible gives full and satisfying answers to these and many more questions." They offer, not a Bible, but a book telling you what the Bible teaches. Of course you can also have them come and teach a free Bible study where again you will study their books which tell you what the Bible teaches.
Our prayer is that God would impress on the minds of many that His Word alone is truth and not an organization.
