The Great Pyramids
Jehovah’sWitnesses for the most part are unaware of the occult like record of divine revelation given through the first president of the Watch Tower organization, Charles Taze Russell.
This is especially disconcerting since witnesses insist that one cannot understand the Bible nor have true fellowship with God outside the organization. Their voice of truth recorded in the Watchtower magazine illustrates this:
“Unless we are in touch with the channel of communication that God is using, we will not progress along the road to life, no matter how much Bible reading we do” (The Watchtower, 12/1/1981, p. 27)
Russell set the stage for this thinking in a series of books called “Studies in the Scriptures”. He wrote the following statement concerning the greatness of his studies:
“Not only do we find that people cannot see the divine plan in studying the Bible by itself, but we see, also, that if anyone lays the Scripture Studies aside, even after he has used them, after he has become familiar with them, after he has read them for ten years- if he then lays them aside and ignores them and goes to the Bible alone, though he has understood his Bible for ten years, our experience shows that within two years he goes into darkness. On the other hand, if he had merely read the Scripture Studies with their references, and had not read a page of the Bible, as such, he would be in the light at the end of the two years, because he would have the light of the Scriptures.” (The Watchtower, Sept. 15, 1910, p. 298)
Russell was quite enamored with the great Pyramids. He felt that one would discover the future by carefully looking at the dimensions of the pyramids. Somehow this occult like information was revealed in great clarity to Russell who in turn would now reveal what he had discovered to his followers. Of course, if Russell spoke for God and his revealed truth was much clearer than the Bible, then anyone who truly was a child of God would accept this without hesitation.
Interestingly, a 7 foot tall Egyptian Pyramid was placed at the gravesite of “Russell. their old logo is clearly seen near the top with the “Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society” carved in stone on the other side.
By carefully considering these somewhat magical dimensions of the inner chambers and passageways of these massive Pyramids in Egypt, he was able to come up with important dates such as the beginning of Christ’s invisible presence in 1874 and the beginning of the period of trouble in 1914.
His “Studies in the Scriptures”, volume 3, Chapter 10, is labeled:
“The Testimony of God’s Stone Witnesses And Prophet, The Great Pyramid in Egypt”.
Russell then felt compelled to assign inches to years from a measurement of the “entrance passage” of the Great Pyramid at Gizeh which of course is proof that Christ returned in 1874:
“Then measuring down the ‘Entrance Passage’… we find it to be 3,416 inches, symbolizing 3,416 years from the above date, BC 1542. This calculation shows AD 1874 as marking the beginning of the period of trouble…” (Studies in the Scriptures Series 3-Thy Kingdom Come, WBTS, 1901, p. 342)
After his death the society initially stated:
“The great Pyramid of Egypt, standing as a silent and inanimate witness of the Lord, is a messenger; and it’s testimony speaks with great eloquence concerning the divine plan.” (The Watchtower, 5-15- 1925, p. 148)
But, as is true with many of their teachings, they reversed this 180 degrees. Just 3 years later the Pyramids were now referred to as “Satan’s Bible”:
“Then Satan put his knowledge into dead stone, which may be called Satan’s Bible, and not God’s stone witness….” (The Watchtower, 11-15-1928, p. 344)
Anyone who follows leaders like this can NEVER know if what they believe today won’t be overruled tomorrow. Unfortunately, the destiny of the deceived will be the same as the deceivers as Jesus told the Pharisees:
“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisee, hypocrites! For ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves." (Matt. 23:15)
