SOONER OR LATER . . .
Two young Mormon missionaries on bicycles will come to your door offering to tell you more about their church. They will tell you, "Of course, there is no obligation on your part and nothing for you to buy."

If you object that you already have your own religion, the missionaries will probably respond, "Wonderful. Our message is for families of all faiths."

However, this series of proselytizing discussions is aimed at pressing you into leaving your church and joining the Mormon Church by baptism. If you should decide to join, you will be taught to abandon any past religious training contrary to Mormon doctrine, whether or not these strange new teachings violate your conscience or contradict the Bible.

Because of the offensive nature of the following Mormon doctrines, the missionaries will not reveal them to you. The real "meat" of "their gospel" will be gradually given over a period of years. If you question these teachings, you will be told not to question God's leaders, much the same as when they published in the Improvement Era, for June in 1945:

The following are just a few teachings of Mormonism compared with the Bible:

"God himself was once as we are now and is an exalted man .... We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea.... "(Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 345.)

Bible: God the Father was never a man and has always been God.

BIBLE: Absolutely no mention of any "wife or wives" of God the Father or the Lord Jesus Christ.

BIBLE:

"The appointment of Jesus to be the Savior of the world was contested by one of the other sons of God. He was called Lucifer .... this spirit brother of Jesus desperately tried to become the savior of mankind." (The Gospel through the Ages, p. 15.)

BIBLE: Jesus created Satan, so he can't be his brother!

"For by him [Jesus] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him." (Colossians 1:16)

"The fleshly body of Jesus required a Mother as well as a Father. Therefore, the Father and Mother of Jesus, according to the flesh, must have been associated together in the capacity of husband and wife: Hence the Virgin Mary must have been, for the time being, the lawful wife of God the Father." (Apostle Orson Pratt, Seer, p. 158.)

BIBLE: Mary was indeed a virgin and the child Jesus was begotten by supernatural action of the Holy Ghost:

"... that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost .... Behold, a virgin shall be with child .... (Matthew 1:20,23)

"... we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do." (Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 25:23)

"Individual [Salvation]--that which man merits through his own acts through life and by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel." (Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 1, page 134.)

BIBLE:

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8,9)

"I was answered that I must join none of them, for they [All Churches] were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt...."(Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith 2:19)

"... all other churches are entirely destitute of all authority from God;... the most corrupt of all people. Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the "whore of Babylon" whom the Lord denounces .... "(Seer, p. 255)

"We talk about Christianity, but it is a perfect pack of nonsense.... the Devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century." (Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p. 167)

"There is no salvation outside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." (Mormon Doctrine, 1979 edition, p. 670)

"... it was apparent that many important points touching the salvation of men, had been taken from the Bible, or lost before it was compiled." (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 10)

"Thou fool, that shall say: A Bible, we have got a Bible, and we need no more Bible." (Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 29:6)

"But the Bible has been robbed of its plainness; many sacred books having been lost, others rejected by the Romish Church, and what few we have left, were copied and recopied so many times, that it is admitted that almost every verse has been corrupted and mutilated .... " (Seer, p. 213)

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." (Matthew 24:35)

"But the Word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you." (I Peter 1:25)

The grass withereth ... but the Word of our God shall stand for ever." (Isaiah 40:8)

"It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man." (Psalms 118:8)

1)

"NO SALVATION WITHOUT ACCEPTING JOSEPH SMITH. If Joseph Smith was verily a prophet .... No man can reject that testimony without incurring the most dreadful consequences, for he cannot enter the kingdom of God." (Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 1, pages 189, 190)

BIBLE:

"Neither is there Salvation in any other: [Jesus] for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)

"... Joseph Smith, and many other 'noble and great' ones played a part in the great creative enterprise." (Mormon Doctrine, 1979 edition, p. 169)

BIBLE:

"For by him [Jesus] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth .... all things were created by him, and for him!" I Col. 1:16)

"... I [Joseph Smith] am going like a lamb to the slaughter.... "(Doctrine and Covenants 135:4)

However, Smith shot and killed at least 2 people! (History of the Church, vol. 7, pp. 102, 103)

BIBLE: (Concerning Jesus)

"He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth." (Isaiah 53:7)

"... no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the clestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith." (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 289)

BIBLE:

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." II Timothy 2:5)

"I [Joseph Smith] have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam .... Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet." (History of the Church, Vol. 6, pp. 408, 409)

BIBLE:

Jesus said, "... Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist .... "(Matthew 11:11)

John the Baptist said concerning Jesus:

"... There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose." (Mark 1:7)

"Beware of FALSE PROPHETS, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." (Matthew 7:15)

"But there were FALSE PROPHETS also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies .... and many shall follow their pernicious ways; ..." (II Peter 2:1,2)

"... I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6)

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)

"He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have 1 written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW THAT YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE .... (I John 5:12,13)
